Martin Kern - tenor sax, Tom Berge - piano, Nick Kacal - bass, Ryan Thrupp - drums.

Martin Kern grew up near Zurich in Switzerland and first started to play cello, then later picked up the saxophone. He studied at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern before spending some time in New York. He then moved to Berlin where he became a part oft he vibrant jazz scene. It was there that he recorded his first albums as a bandleader, "Visions" and "Now Is The Music". In Vienna he recorded his most recent CD "Live At The ORF", a live radio concert at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation. Martin's music is a striking blend of bebop, hard bop and contemporary jazz.

Tom Berge is a jazz pianist and music teacher with a 1st Class Honours (BA) in Jazz Piano (Leeds College of Music) and an MA in Composition for Film and TV (Bristol University). He plays regularly with his own trio across the UK and has tutored at the Yamaha Jazz School in Falmouth and at the Dordogne Jazz Summer School.

Nick Kacal is a double bassist and audio engineer. The involvement with the Manchester jazz scene led to him discovering the double bass as his instrument of choice. Since then he has played as a sideman on the London music scene playing, occasionally touring to places such as Cape Verde, France and Spain. He formed his own group, Guerillasound, releasing a CD in 2008 and touring successfully in Japan.

Drummer Ryan Thrupp recently graduated with a First from the Royal Welsh College jazz degree course and besides his jazz activities plays with funky festival favourites Cut Capers and appeared on live BBC TV from Glastonbury 2023 with afro-beat balafon player N’famady Kouyaté.
