The Cheese Comedy Club is back from summer holiday, and for our first night of the new season we're going all out!
Come see what happens when we book an all-headliner bill into one of the best and most intimate comedy club spaces anywhere, hidden away under Bristol's Old City, in the caverns beneath St. Nick's Market.
Carl Donnelly has a loose and natural, flowing style of standup that is equal parts gift and graft. He has twice been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award. As a pup, he won basically every newcomer award they handed out, and he never stopped refining his chops. He's been on Mock The Week, Russell Howard's Good News, and he remains one of the absolute top club acts in the UK. What else do you want, for cryin' out loud?
Helen Bauer is a destroyer of worlds. She's basically a comedy Thanos, but instead of snapping her fingers, it's more of a "oh no you didn't" hand gesture before half the room doubles over in a heap of laughter. She leaves only ashes and tearful faces that silently wonder "what the hell just happened?" But, you know, in a fun way.
She's a transplant to the UK from the booming English-language comedy scene in Berlin, and she's on a damn tear.
Edinburgh Best Newcomer Award Nominee 2019
As heard and seen on BBC Radio 4, BBC3 and Comedy Central UK. “I don’t think I stopped laughing for the entire half hour Helen was on stage. An incredibly likeable comic who takes anecdotal comedy to another level.” Funny Women
Archie Maddocks is smooth, sharp and polished, like one of those ceremonial cake cutters they bust out at weddings. He's a natural storyteller who is also a top-tier writer and a switched on social observer. He'll have you tensing and releasing like an accredited and fully licensed Pilates instructor. "...brilliant job balancing light silly humour with thought-provoking, refreshing and subversive social discussion.” - Entertainment Focus
