A
gig
held at The Coronation Tap
on Tuesday 18th December. The event starts at 20:00.
Over the last few years Monkey Chuckle have played to thousands of people across the UK, appearing at some of the best festivals (The Secret Garden Party, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Sheep Music), clubs (Birmingham's'The Yardbird', Bristol's'Motion' and'The Fleece'), and pubs (The Coronation Tap, The Old Duke) the country has to offer.
Performing alongside The Apples, Haggis Horns, 6ix Toys and at Craig Charles' Funk and Soul Show, this thunderous 7-piece force of funk gets people on their feet and always raises the roof!
Up front, Monkey Chuckle is led by a dynamic, fleet-footed three-piece brass section with Tommy Barlow (Jools Holland Big Band, Aztec Camera) on alto sax; John Pratt (The Heavy) on tenor, and Ryan Aves on trumpet. A super tight rhythm section holds the thing down with the band's mastermind, Phil Olds, on bass. Alongside him are Sam Mills on keys, Michael Davis on drums, and Mark Lawrence on guitar.
'Mighty impressed, superb tight arrangements and a real sense of urgency, all you need a great funk band to be.' (Craig Charles, BBC Radio 6).
'They gave it all they've got (and that's quite a considerable amount) in a set of impeccably tight dancefloor funk instrumentals, JBs-style.' (Tony Benjamin, Venue Magazine).
