Minimal Schlager + The New Cut + Or Marson at Crofters Rights
See event details

A gig held at The Croft on Saturday 10th June. The event starts at 19:00.

Based between London and Berlin, Minimal Schlager operate at the intersection between Italo disco, the darker corners of New Wave and various forgotten sounds picked up in the dive clubs of Berlin, a direct sweet spot between pure pop and haunting, Lynchian synth pop. Following the release of their debut album “Love, Sex & Dreams” recorded by Robbie Moore (Florence + The Machine, LA Salami) on Duchess Box Records, the band went on a European tour performing 30 dates across 8 countries and supporting the likes of The KVB, Ploho, Torres and Lust for Youth.

Forming in early 2021, The New Cut are a Bristol/Brighton based alternative rock 4 piece that delivers a rousing melancholia with a side of wry lyric. Word has been spreading fervently since the release of their home-spun louche and infectious debut track 'The Family Business' and follow up 'Stephen Gerrard Is My Dad', a blast of quirk pop that takes on the absurd complexities of sharing a famous name, and more recently the release of their EP, 'Merrywood.'

Oliver Marson's music exists in the same vein as art rock bands like Sparks, Pulp and more contemporary artists like Alex Cameron, Kirin J Callinan and Connan Mockasin. His signature croon, energetic shows and satirical lyrics commenting on the grisly truths of 2020s Britain have earned him a cult following in the UK. So far, Marson has supported bands like The Big Pink, Minimal Schlager, Moreish Idols, Tempers and Ghum. He has received praise from the likes of Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop), who described his last release "Blue Dreams", as "a nice bit of weird pop" and that he "dug it". To achieve his rather eccentric sound, he worked with Jorge Elbrecht (Ariel Pink, Japanese Breakfast) on his upcoming album.
