Alpaca Presents | Sometimes + Support at Crofters Rights
See event details

A gig held at The Croft on Saturday 16th March. The event starts at 22:30.

Sometimes - heavily influenced by the 90’s grunge scene and mid-late 00’s emo. Formed in late 2018 by childhood friends Daniel Broadley & Ant Thornton as a way to reconnect musically. The pair had gone their separate ways in 2011 and both went on to found different projects - one half of Folk Duo ‘Meadowlark’ for Broadley, while Thornton ‘Black Foxxes’. Once the idea for the band was alive the pair recruited Joseph Poole to take on bass duties and ‘Lonely The Brave’s’ guitarist Ross Smithwick. Shortly after recording the first EP Smithwick departed - Thornton looked to former Foxxes band mate Tristan Jane as a no brainer to complete the lineup. The bands first release ‘That’s Just Life’ saw an exclusive play on Daniel P Carter’s Rock Show on BBC Radio 1, with the second release ‘Bored’ making it’s way onto The Pit Editorial playlist on Spotify. With one EP firmly under their belts the band are excited to release a follow up. Produced by Peter Miles at Middle Farm Studios, the new offering explores a darker, if not angular sound, with a few hooks thrown in for good measure. Having previously opened up sold out shows for Lonely The Brave & Coach Party, Sometimes are now ready for their first headliner - catch them at The Crofters Rights on March 16th 2024.

Formed in the dark shadows of sticky floored underground venues, DISASTER CLINIC are an alt-rock five-piece making their mark on the Bristol music scene with their brooding combination of thrashing riffs, rousing vocals and heavy metal sensibilities.

Taking inspiration from artists such as Deftones and All About Eve, as well as the orchestrations of Danny Elfman, their music explores eerie gothic landscapes, fury-fuelled anthems and finds power in rawness. DISASTER CLINIC aim to get under your skin, and give you permission to scream along with them – lending the loudest voice to anyone who has ever felt unheard. They have performed at venues across Bristol including The Crown and Rough Trade, and have supported iconic alt-rock bands such as The Menstrual Cramps, Pink Suits, Witch Hook and Call Of The Void.

“full of middle finger-raising, crowd-screaming participation, and angst”

Formed in early 2020, Portrait Of developed their sound and style during a very strange era indeed. With an eclectic range of influences, from the 90’s underground scene, to modern post-punk bands such as Deerhunter and Ought, to Talking Heads, Portrait Of deliver a unique mix of angular melodies and hazy sonic textures – at times spooky, other times propulsive, always somewhere odd.

Entry requirements: 18+
