Echorec is a 4-piece Post-Prog band based in Bristol. Their maximalist sound combines the complexity and rhythmic drive of Rush and Porcupine Tree with an intimacy reminiscent of Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, woven together with an immersive mentality evocative of Pink Floyd.

Listeners are guided through the twists and turns of their narrative-driven music, ensnared by every rhythmic groove, haunting melody and striking anthem, before being pulled towards the next.

Echorec consists of Julian Kirk (Vocals and Guitar), Jake Aubrey (Drums), Alex Adams (Keyboards and Backing Vocals) & Taibah Orpin (Bass and Backing Vocals). The band formed initially as a three-piece in 2015, drawn together over a shared love of narrative-based, conceptual rock and unusual time signature grooves. The lineup then expanded in 2020 with Alex taking over on keyboards, allowing the band to recreate their signature expansive sound in live shows.

They released their debut album, The Island, in 2020, which was met with critical acclaim. The band was featured as one of the 16 bands to watch that year in Prog
