A
clubnight
held at The Croft
on Saturday 4th August. The event starts at 23:00.
Dial Africa is extremely excited to present Chris Menist, co founder and runner of the record label Paradise Bangkok and all-round music enthusiast. Chris Menist is revered by crate diggers the world over. He has compiled, over the course of spells spent living in Thailand, Yemen and Pakistan, a collection of records to make even the biggest world music fans go weak at the knees with excitement.
Known for his capacity to search that little bit harder, to dig that little bit further, Chris Menist delights in shaping his constantly-surprising DJ sets around the latest unearthed gems. Capable of seamlessly bridging cultures, every set he plays is a new chapter in a life story dedicated to musical discovery.
CHRIS MENIST:
Chris Menist has worked as a writer, musician and DJ for over 17 years, and, with DJ Maft Sai, is the host of the 'Paradise Bangkok' events in Thailand, Japan and Europe. The pair also run the record label of the same name, which reissues underground gems from around the world.
He has co-curated the 'Sound of Wonder' series for Finders Keepers records, as well as 'Thai? Dai! The Heavier Side Of The Luk Thung Underground' alongside Maft Sai. They also put together 'The Sound Of Siam: Leftfield Luk Thung, Jazz & Molam 1964 - 1975' for Soundway.
Joined on the night will be the ever-elusive Sunun, who will be bridging the gaps with fiery drum-orientated rhythms from less trodden paths of the world, and of course Dial Africa, who will be doing much of the same. Music from Thailand, Ethiopia, Benin, Haiti, Somalia, Sudan, India and more!
