RESCHEDULED FROM OCTOBER 18TH, THIS GIG HAS GROWN!
A night of live Hip-Hop, Reggae, Ska, Punk and live loop Beatboxing. We hope to raise awareness and funds for two very important organisations. Between them, these groups go out of their way to bring about change to our country. They have done a lot to bring about change over the past year, but we want to do more and this is where you can help! Join us for a skank and a boogie for a good cause.
They may be considered Bristol's newcomers, but having shared stages with the likes of: The Skints, Gentleman's Dub Club, Scroobius Pip and Akala, Regime have quickly earned their stripes alongside some of the U.K's finest acts. Tackling issues such as drug abuse, arms dealing and government oppression, Regime speak directly to the hearts and minds of free thinking people. Social and political commentaries are blended seamlessly with hip hop, reggae and rock to make audiences jump, laugh and think.
Billy Rowan, a.k.a. 'The Undercover Hippy', is a singer songwriter and producer who brings together elements of folk, hip-hop, and reggae amongst other influences. The result is a selection of extremely catchy, politically charged and thought provoking songs, packed with imagery and performed with the voice of a man twice his size. His music is difficult to define, but has been likened to that of Jack Johnson, The John Butler Trio, Gomez and Xavier Rudd among others. Think Ben Harper meets Gentleman and they play acoustic hip-hop around a camp fire.
After spending 5 years touring Festivals, Squats and far-flung venues, Will Tun & the Wasters have become an 8 piece beast of genre-jumping chaos merchants blasting out on Clarinet, Accordion, Fiddle and more. From their Folk-Punk and Ska roots the band have evolved through Hip-hop, Balkan and Latin grooves, welding an explosive musical concoction to a relentless live energy, perfectly captured in the debut album"The Anachronist's Cookbook" released in the US, UK and Europe.
The band have evolved politically over the years, supporting positive ethics within the Punk scene and beyond, promoting campaigns from Anti-Fascism to the Environmental movement, actively promoting a fertile DIY Scene in the UK and Europe to create a strong grassroots following around the band.
With a history dominated by music, this waistcoat sporting sondboy never ceases to amaze with his versatile selections. Mixing vinyl with digital platforms while incorporating all that'The Tru Sound Tribe' is about, this little raggamuffin will be providing everything from reggae infused balkan madness through to the finest dnb and jungle, hip hop classics, all kinds of Bass music and dacefloor killers! And theres always the likelihood of a live PA showcasing some of his own work.
