on Sunday 19th November. The event starts at 19:00.
This film follows the formation of WITCH (We Intend To Cause Havoc) Zambia’s most popular rock band of the 1970s, and documents the journey of its lively lead singer, Jagari.
Exploring the life of the African rock-star, it highlights the excitement around the rediscovery of his music by a whole new generation of fans. Join us for a DJ set from Jazzin the Park Productions: a non-profit organisation from the North West, bringing together people and communities through music with a passion for music, vinyl and importing records from West Africa as part of its international outreach. Delicious food is available to pre-order from Houria, a pan-African catering company that hire female survivors of slavery.
Afrika Eye is in its 17th edition year with a well-grounded and respected programme jam-packed with films, dance, music, food, panel discussions and more. Artists from across Africa and within the diaspora bring insights, creative ideas and extraordinary projects, which broaden and enrich our knowledge of a continent that has for centuries been part of our shared histories without ever having an equal voice.
Houria joined Curzon last year and catered for the film event Hostile with feedback that audience members wanted them back for more – so we are delivering on that promised and are so pleased to partner with an organisation that not only delivers super tasty food but also has such strong ethics behind them.
Jazzin The Park Productions will be providing the tunes and we are honoured to have them travelling down from their North West residencies to accompany this brilliant closing event for such a renowned festival.
