Miranda Sex Garden Concert at The Fleece
£22.40

A gig held at The Fleece on Monday 25th September. The event starts at 19:30.

Miranda Sex Garden’s sold out one-night show at London’s 100 Club last July, was a long-awaited spring blossom after twenty years of winter. This autumn 2023 they return for another London show, followed by a triptych of earthly delights in Leeds Bristol and St Leonards and their recently announced show at the bohemian seaside town of Hastings.

Rooted in madrigal traditions and later cross-bred with goth-industrial and prog-rock cuttings, their musical hybrid has borne many fruit. They topped the classical charts with 1990’s Madra. They’ve toured with the likes of Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Hole and Einstürzende Neubauten. They’ve released 4 follow-up studio albums, including their last – the critically acclaimed, show-stopping Carnival of Souls.

Their current arrangement includes founding member Katharine Blake as vocalist, with Trevor Sharpe (Minty, The Servant) on drums, Teresa Casella (Mediaeval Baebes) on bass and Emmett Elvin on keyboards. Founding member and guitarist Ben Golomstock died in 2018, but his sound lives on through Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong). Performer Bev Lee Harling completes the group.
Katharine Blake will be known to many as the founder of classical chart topping group Mediæval Bæbes, who have released 11 studio albums and received an Ivor Novella award and two Emmy nominations for their unique choral sound.
Opening for Miranda Sex Garden is Kristeen Young, who has won the hearts of Bowie, Dave Grohl, Morrissey and Tony Visconti, with her virtuosic vocal range, which eviscerates in a playful way like an afternoon with a Victorian child ghost,
Berlin-based Bleedingblackwood will light the evening’s green fuse with a forceful spark of his electric opera for dark souls.
