A event on Saturday 19th September. The event starts at 12:00.
What are you looking forward to? Find Waiting Song in the heart of the galleries shopping centre, between the escalators, the pop up arcade and Boswell’s cafe. Two trapeze artists suspended in mid-air, engage in melodic conversation about their hopes for the future. Dressed in sumptuous circus costumes and set to live music, they spin, sway and sing in duet, in a lyrical exploration of how anticipation shapes our emotions and actions. The show is different each time, as the artists weave in thoughts and reflections from those they meet along the way.
“A subtle bond developed between the performers and the audience, based on the simple but profound link that formed from the briefest of conversations.”
Show times: 12:15pm, 1:45pm, 3:45pm each day
All performances are approximately 15 minutes. Prior to the show the performers will be around for 15 mins to chat. Performances are free and you can come and go as you please. Seating will be provided, including seats reserved for those that need them.
“guaranteed to lift the spirits of whoever is watching.”
Director Mish Weaver is a rare mixture of Circus director and designer. She has over 30 years’ experience making indoor and outdoor performances, creating weight-bearing structures and choreographing objects and bodies.
Mish began her circus career performing trapeze and Cloudswing, later producing dance theatre shows. Blending technical knowledge of circus disciplines, fine art training, and academic study (choreography, scenography and voice for circus), Mish engages thematic research with metaphoric use of set and circus bodies. Although Mish’s work focuses on climate psychology and mental health, she is not averse to pure entertainment.
