A
gig
held at The Grain Barge
on Wednesday 15th February. The event starts at 19:30pm.
Comedy the day after Valentine's Day for all you miserable bastards out there. Who needs love? Not us.
That's a lie. We love love. Which is why we invited the LOVEly Richard Todd to come along, with Tom Gidman, and knock your comedy socks off. Because if you didn't get lucky last night, you bloody well will tonight folks. Support from Jamie D'Souza
MC'd by Eliza Fraser. As if you needed more reasons.
Praise for Richard Todd:
'An inventive comic thinker, with surrealism that creates weird imagery with robust, if unlikely, internal logic. He delivers with the passion of an insane preacher, and there’s a keen off-the-wall wit throughout…'
Steve Bennet, Chortle
'… A smart surrealist…'
The Independent
'Richard Todd is a funny funny man. A Properly talented comic'
Kate Copstick
'Constructing complex, bewilderingly intricate sentences from the far reaches of a vast vocabulary, he occasionally calls to mind a persecuted Daniel Kitson, or an intelligent Russell Brand. Ultimately though, Todd emerges as a talent entirely of his own. The left-field subject matter he tackles is rooted in the everyday, and we identify with him for all his wildly eccentric thoughts and behaviour.'
Lewis Porteous, Fest
'flashes of brilliance with complex, imaginative surrealism and an endearingly chaotic style'
The Skinny
And Tom Gidman
Well, he bloody well won Chortle this year, so..
Steve Bennett off of Chortle says,
'Tom Gidman last night became the first character comedian to win the Chortle Student Comedy Award.
The 23-year-old impressed judges at the Edinburgh Fringe with his set, in which he impersonated Andy Murray, Ed Miliband and David Attenborough, as well as performing a spoof comedy-magic act.'
