A
gig
held at The Grain Barge
on Wednesday 4th April. The event starts at 20:00.
Hey Hot Patooties,
Oooooh, April's Hammer + Tongue featured poet is CHRIS REDMOND! Our special guest is ROSS SUTHERLAND! Kicking us off in spectacular style is LYDIA BEARDMORE!
...is a performance poet, musician and educator who weaves tall tales from a broad pallet of James Brown concerts, journey's via cow trough portals to the centre of the Earth and sometimes about getting poo in his eye. His work has been featured on BBC Radio 1, Radio 4 (Bespoken Word & Pick of The Week), XFM and SKY Arts.
Chris is the founder and host of Tongue Fu a show, in which the UK's best performance poets flex their lyrical ninja skills to an improvised soundtrack from the Tongue Fu band.
Supporting Chris will be one of the legends of the UK poetry scene, Ross Sutherland.
***Ross Sutherland***
...is a founding member of the hugely successful and influential Aisle 16. He was included in The Times's list of Top Ten Literary Stars of 2008 and has co-written eight live literature productions, including the critically acclaimed Poetry Boyband (Time Out Critic's Choice of the Year 2005). His debut solo collection, Things To Do Before You Leave Town , was published by Penned in the Margins in January 2009.
And, as if this wasn't enough, we also have a local support slot for the lovely Lydia Beardmore. She's charming, engaging, funny, bubbly, and really rather good with words, we love her and we know you will too.
As always, there will also be the famous Hammer + Tongue open slam for 8 performers to go head to head against the audience vote to be crowned April's slam champion and book themselves a slot in the regional final next year.
Its a school night, so we'll be done by 11pm don't panic!
Hosted by the (probably drunk) Sally Jenkinson, the erudite and wonderful Jonny Fluffypunk, and the good looking one, James Bunting.
