HOWLIN' LORD

Friday 17th December

Alright you turkeys...it's the 1st anniversary of the new Grapes and what better way to ram it up the shitter than with an all torn up performance from Bristol's hottest new act?

Howlin' Lord have gone through various phases during their ascent to ragged glory but now, with the addition of Lord Tom Elgie on drums, they are beginning to .....peak. Still retaining that fucked-up, strung out vibe whilst also being paradoxically tight as fuck, these boys beam 21st century country rock'n' roll direct into brain cell number 9.

But hey, don't take my word for it...check out what everyone else says (while I correct their punctuation):

'Country rock'n'roll with a world-weary authority. Alone with an acoustic guitar, or electrified and backed by his rhythm section of Mark Furnevall (Bass) and Thomas Elgie (Drums), Howlin' Lord delivers heart-worn country folk-rock as if Topanga Canyon was hidden somewhere in the English West Country. Live, the band turn on a dime; haunting, atmospheric ballads effortlessly surge into blistering rock'n'roll hurricanes. Imagine a back-woods Richie Valens with Black Flag tearing through a Morricone soundtrack and you'll get the idea'. (Venue Magazine)

Richie Valens, Black Flag and Morricone...shit me, what a combo!

Fuck Christmas...we're goin up the country!
