gig
on Sunday 19th February. The event starts at 17:00.
For February's installment of local talent we have two artists who have been tucked away, crafting and building their art for the past few months and are now ready to showcase what they've both been up to!
First off, we have Becan - a singer songwriter who cut his teeth performing up in Leeds now living in Bristol. His music is layered with soulful chord structures and a very gritty, yet sensitive vocal delivery. Expect the growl of the old blues singers such as BB King or Bobby Bland mixed with the nuance of soul similar to Eric Roberson and The Teskey Brothers. A rare treat to find someone of this age with a voice this rich.
Our headline act for the afternoon we have the folk trio ÂELLIN.
ÂELLIN is the folk, jazz and ambient songwriting project fronted by multi-instrumentalist and lyricist Siân Magill.
Moving away from traditional songwriting structures, the project seeks to unpick real-world emotive and visceral experience. Working with literary reference and intertextuality, the songs explore concepts of memory, unconscious experience and the diffusion of linearity. The audio-world meanders through a diversity of genres, working with a rich canvas of textural elements including folk guitar, jazz guitar, percussion, double bass, cello, ambient synth and synth bass.
As always our host Max Harrison will kick the afternoon off before handing over to these two brilliant acts.
