Alex Veitch Trio + Jake McMurchie at The Greenbank Pub, Easton

A gig on Thursday 7th October. The event starts at 20:00.

Tickets available on the door!

We welcome Jake McMurchie to The Greenbank for this very special gig reimagining the music of The Beatles. An incredible improviser and musician, and cofounder of Get The Blessing [Album of the Year, BBC Jazz Awards 2008], we can’t wait for this one!

He joins the Alex Veitch Trio. Alex is active on the Bristol music scene playing with MADLY and in his groove trio with James Vine and Chris Jones. He moved to Bristol from London 4 years ago, graduating from the Guildhall School and has since secured residencies upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s and played at other venues including The Vortex, Cafe Oto, and Pizza Express Soho. Alex is joined by Cardiff bass virtuoso Ashley John-Long, and Alex Goodyear, a brilliant drummer just graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music.

Expect a mixture of original songs and jazz standards, combined with our versions of our favourite Beatles classics

Jake McMurchie - tenor sax
Alex Veitch - piano
Ashley John Long - double bass
Alex Goodyear - drums

Here’s some quotes about Jake from the people who know:
“If there were a prize for forming bands with instantly distinctive sounds, Bristol-based saxophonist Jake McMurchie would surely carry it off” London Jazz News
“…the inventive McMurchie, his sensual tone falling somewhere between early Sonny Rollins and Pink-Panther tenorist Plas Johnson, was a revelation.” London Evening Standard
“a very sexy sound.” Radio 3 Jazz Lineup

Tickets are expected to sell fast, with a very limited number. It’s a beautiful venue, especially setup for the evening, with great beers and delicious pizza [book a table seat for food!]

Tickets £5 in advance // £7 OTD // Doors 7pm // Music from 8pm
