Rooted in Bristol Film Screening & Panel Discussion/Twin Cities Fundraiser

Rooted in Bristol Film Screening & Panel Discussion/Twin Cities Fundraiser at The Greenbank Pub, Easton

An event on Tuesday 17th November. The event starts at 18:30.

Join us at the Greenbank Pub in Easton this November, as we bring a sparkle of sunshine, joy and community to the shorter autumnal days.

Rooted in Bristol is a film production directed by Annie Menter and Manu Maunganidze that recognises the long-standing contributions of Black and Afro-Caribbean communities to Bristol's green spaces and allotment culture ~30 mins.

Machambas are small, family-run agricultural plots in Mozambique that act as a cornerstone for self-sufficiency and community resilience. We will be showing a short film from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mozambique, that documents a local community garden's nursery to harvest journey ~ 15 mins.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion on:

'The importance of grassroots growing initiatives in the context of the current environmental and social climate'

Featuring filmmaker; Manu Maunganidze, Hamish Evans; Middle Ground Growers & WeAreAvon, Bristol-Beira link trustee & coordinator;Connor Grant. Plus...experts in the field of food security and climate adaptation/justice (tbc.)

*All proceeds from the evening go directly to support Bristol Link with Beira's urban agriculture and community climate action initiatives in Sofala Province, Mozambique. An area that has experienced severe floods and droughts in recent years and is forecast to be in the El Niño and La Niña high impact zones.

This event is also run in partnership with Afrika Eye Film Festival, keep your eyes peeled for their other events this Autumn!

The screening will start at 18:30 in the upstairs function room, but feel free to grab a drink from the downstairs bar beforehand. There will also be a chance to continue the discussion in the pub after the panel/ Q&A.

We look forward to you joining us! :)
