Mastiff, Cattle Hammer, Mouths, Tendrils at The Gryphon
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! ‘Tis the landlord’s birthday, and nothing but the unbeatable brutality of hardcore-sludge pack-leaders Mastiff will suffice. Joining the 50 cap pile-up: RSPCA nightmare Cattle Hammer and their Anaal Nathrakh-adjacent oppressive doom, alongside Mouths’ ethereal post-metal heaviness. Foul, fetid metal, sure to stank right FFO: Full of Hell, All Pigs Must Die, Sumac, Lord Mantis."

A gig on Saturday 20th June. The event starts at 19:00.

Road To Masochist has put together a mighty strong lineup in honour of landlord John Ashby it descends on Bristol in June. Not only being held in the intimate surroundings of The Gryphon, but it's also a celebration of Ashby's birthday...all in all, this will sell out fast!

Headliners MASTIFF have been spreading their brand of misery and dissonance for well over a decade. Their most recent EP release 'For All The Dead Dreams', released via Church Road Records, saw them unleash the most brutal and devastating hardcore infused sludge of their career, and has meant they will be very unlikely to be playing in settings such as this for very long.

CATTLE HAMMER join us having just released their filthy, gloomy epic 'Dark Thoughts With Lights Out' via Road to Masochist. Headed by Duncan Wilkins (Mistress, Fukpig, ex-Anaal Nathrakh), this Birmingham band are about as dissonant, nihilistic and nasty as you can get.

MOUTHS travel down from Sheffield and bring their atmospheric, yet hard-hitting, brand of post-hardcore. Expect to be challenged and to be absorbed.

TENDRILS open proceedings with their energetic brand of ultra-noisy mathcore. Hailing from the Exeter area, they most recently opened for Chained To The Bottom of the Ocean and released their Dillinger-esque album 'Long Dead' in 2024.

All takes place at The Gryphon, Bristol on Saturday 20th June 2026. Doors at 6.30pm.

£12 ADV/£15 OTD.
