Based on popular demand - Skraeckoedlan return to Bristol for a one-off UK show...
Due to a recent incident that resulted in the loss of €4000 worth of Skraeckoedlan equipment, we’re forging a fun(d) raising event that will help raise funds for Skraeckoedlan, whilst having a ruddy good time!
Since forming in 2009 Skraeckoedlan has left deep footprints in the Swedish underground scene.
The band offers a buffe´ of heavy fuzz rock, originating in the fat 70’s groove of Black Sabbath, the melodic 90’s choruses of Weezer and Mastodons modern progressive metal. Skraeckoedlan combines this with lyrics that tell tales about cosmic worlds centered around sagas and mythological beings, all sung in their native tongue. Early on, the quartet established their self as a live act and has with a DIY-attitude created their own opportunities for being seen and heard. Soon reaching 150 live shows, the band has shared the stage with Truckfighters, Orange Goblin, Kylesa and other giants of the genre.
In 2011 the debut album Appeltradet was released. Made in Studio Bombshelter, where Truckfighters usually reside, Mr. Ozo himself took on the job of recording and producing the album. Mr. Dango also left his contribution and can be heard playing on the title track.
Skraeckoedlan has recently released their follow up, titled Sagor. It’s been recorded in multiple studios during a two year period, and features collaborations with several technicians and producers such as: Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah) and Niklas Berglof (Ghost). Erik Berglund has done all the mixing and been an integral part in finding the sound of the album.
When working with Sagor, Skraeckodlan got in contact with Anders Friden (In Flames) and his record label RAZZIA RECORDS, who released the record.
Skraeckoedlan is now looking forward to continue to ride the riff and are set to conquer new parts of the cosmos near you!
A combination of ballsy blues rock and heavy riffs.
Elephant Tree are a relatively new band who, after cutting their teeth in the London metal scene, have established a place within the current growing Stoner Metal genre. Having moved down and taken in many many gigs and shows the guys have been influenced to start making their own music. Linking up with heavy riff veteran Pete in early January and Riley 'Sitar Wizard' MacIntyre soon after, things are snowballing quickly with more songs in the pipelines.
While the style is difficult to class under any one particular sub-genre of Metal it has been most likened to Doom Metal and Stoner Rock however many people have their own classifications ranging from Blues to Prog.
Playing their debut gig to a great crowd in April 2014 which lead to the demand for the recording of their first EP, Theia was released in September by Magnetic Eye Records. Now an established gigging band the guys are booking in performances all over the UK with sights set to lands beyond!
Quickly gaining momentum, Cybernetic Witch Cult have already been featured in both Terrorizer and Classic Rock Magazine, with two free tracks given away this month!
Cybernetic Witch Cult are an English stoner rock band, formed in Cornwall in 2014 by guitarist and lyricist Alex Wyld and bassist Kale Deane. The band incorporate science fiction, horror and occult themes with story-telling lyrics and tuned-down guitars.
Their debut album 'Morlock Rock' was released in July 2015, featuring 8 songs recorded at two studio locations in the South West. Live shows consist of energetic performances with a projector screen setting the scenes for some of the lyrical content, any fans of Sci-fi & horror will love the musical atmospheres created at each show.
“Together these three musicians are a force to be reckoned with and in "Morlock Rock" have produced an album that although blatantly "retro" in flavour has enough of "today" in its grooves to placate any of those naysayers.”
- Desert Psychlist
This three piece from Reading blend all your favourite sins into a rich odious syrup... they will rot your teeth.
Like a half submerged man slowing crawling onto dry land; Not yet completely visible. Dragging behind him all that he has experienced. Thick with mud, drenched with sweat. Feral, but subdued, waiting for the moment to drag you down.
Hailing from the British Midlands, English psych-metal four-piece Prophets of Saturn return this July with a follow-up to 2013, self-titled debut on the Birmingham-based label HeviSike Records.
Offering up an unabashed and heady excursion into the dope-smoking amplifier-worship of Pentagram, Saint Vitus and Electric Wizard, Retronauts is for neither the faint of heart nor mind. Traversing the cosmic ley-lines of times gone by like an antiquarian journey through the lineage of English proto-metal, a lysergic love of Cream, The Beatles and fellow Midlanders Black Sabbath permeate Prophets of Saturn’s sound. A love laced in equal measure with both the usual and unusual; the kind you’d come to expect from a band possessed to the point of lunacy with channeling bad acid trips, occultism and electrified doom through a fuzz box, just to get out of it the desired winding riffs and demented wails.
Like their self-titled debut – originally released on Cosmic Tomb and later rereleased by HeviSike Records on limited edition CD and cassette – Retronauts is a must-hear for fans of spaced-out, groove-laden metal. The kind best experienced live through vintage stacks, or committed to analogue tape in the most esoteric of studios.
Striking titanic fat bottomed doom chords that would make the devil cry a single fiery tear of joy - Kerrang
