Secret Compass is thrilled to announce its first Audience with Adventure film and Q&A event in Bristol. It will focus on Iran. These events aim to bring together local communities of adventure lovers (and adventure film lovers). The evening will begin with a screening of the already multi-award-nominated film, Karun.
'KARUN' PLOT OUTLINE
British adventurers Tom Allen and Leon McCarron set out to follow Iran's longest river, the Karun, by human powered means. Their aim is to go beyond the politics and explore the culture and geography of this most misunderstood of nations and have a great adventure doing so. But despite Tom's previous experience of travel in Iran, they find that cultural differences run deeper than they'd realised. And when the once-calm waters of the Karun turn nasty, they wonder if they've bitten off more than they can chew
IRAN EXPERTS Q&A
Following the screening of Karun, director and protagonist Tom Allen will take part in a hosted panel discussion focusing on adventure travel in Iran, adventure film making and anything our audience throws at him. Allen will be accompanied on stage by award-winning travel writer Mark Stratton, who will be freshly returned from a National Geographic commission to Iran, and Lois Pryce, a pioneering adventure film maker, author and native Bristolian who recently motorbiked to and through Iran.
