on Saturday 12th October. The event starts at 15:00.
The Island (formally Bridewell Police Station) was built in 1928 by Ivor Jones and Percy Thomas and opened as a police station in November 1930 near the site of a previous station, it is thought houses of correction or workhouse have existed in this area since the middle ages. It closed as a working police station in August 2005. In 2008 the building was taken on by artists and converted into an arts centre. Find out more about this colourful building in our Open Studios guided tours.
