HVL, Machine Woman, Nate Forest & Jay Galligan at The Island

A clubnight held at The Island on Saturday 12th September. The event starts at 23:00.

The Probe returns. This time joining forces with our friends at Organic Analogue for a special night at The Island. A meeting of two independent operations, with a couple of very special guests and a few familiar faces. Ready yourselves for another trip down the electronic wormhole….

HVL is coming to Bristol for the first time — and, more importantly, this is his first ever UK appearance.

A key figure in Tbilisi’s electronic underground and long-standing resident at Bassiani, Gigi Jikia’s HVL project has been quietly carving out his own territory since the early 2010s; deep, dubwise rhythms, strange melodic shapes, warm hardware and an innate sense of space.

Over the years his work has surfaced on Appian Sounds, Tabernacle, Bassiani and Organic Analogue, amongst others.

His relationship with Organic Analogue runs particularly deep, with Away From Everything We Know becoming the label’s second release in 2015, followed by the timeless classic, Ostati LP in 2018 and a return alongside Gacha Bakradze for the Splits 12" in 2023.

For this one HVL will be stepping away from the usual DJ booth configuration for a live hardware / hybrid set. Machines, sequencing and improvisation coming together in real time. A rare chance to catch one of Tbilisi’s most distinctive electronic artists in the UK for the very first time.

Joining him is Machine Woman, the Berlin-based producer and artist whose work has spent years occupying the more peculiar corners of the dancefloor. With roots in punk and experimental noise, and releases across Delsin, Technicolour, Ninja Tune and beyond, her sets move freely between techno, electro, broken rhythms and stranger rhythmic territories.

Organic Analogue has been quietly doing its thing for well over a decade. Founded in London in 2008 by Nate Forest and Benedetta Sodini, the label has built a catalogue that refuses to sit neatly anywhere, electro, techno, acid, dub, ambient and the more psychedelic edges of electronic music, always with an independent and uncompromising approach.

Connecting the dots from Bristol, Jay Galligan of The Probe will go back-to-back with Nate Forest of Organic Analogue, bringing the two crews together behind the controls.
