Heute Leute Series: 1 at The Island
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Descend to the Island for more rave stabs than the Ultimate Rave Stab Collection™ and looser breakbeats than a warped Jericho. It can only be Denham Audio, battling for your dancing feet with Refugee Worldwide’s electro braindance queen Sagan + more."

A clubnight held at The Island on Saturday 2nd December. The event starts at 22:00.

Heute Leute is on a mission to bring you an eclectic mix of art, music and raving culture from around the world, and our first stop is at the Island in Bristol.

Weaving together the previously disparate genres of breaks, house, garage and techno, Series 1 presents four of our favourite pioneers of the modern rave sound that is blowing up dance floors from corner to corner.

Denham Audio

Denham’s notoriety has grown consistently, starting out in the hotbed of creativity that is the North of the UK and systematically filtering through the network to become one of the leading talents from this scene. The recent Boiler Room from Boomtown featuring Denham and DJ Fuckoff shows just how dynamic the sound has become through his evolution as an artist.

SAGAN

From the deepest depths of the Berlin subculture we present the music of SAGAN. Curating her SMS show on the Refuge Worldwide Radio, this artist has somehow managed to bring the sound of breakbeat and electro to the downtempo/techno loving masses of the German Festival circuit, including regularly smashing the closing parties at Fusion. Sagan has been instrumental in helping to further develop the sound of Berlin, and cementing the genre smashing rave culture we all know and love in the city that never stops the party.

An Avrin

Bristol’s own boy wonder, An Arvin is such an inspiration to us, not only because his beats absolutely kick it and his production style is a unique blend of all the vibes, but also because his work infuses his personality, sense of humour and ability to fold the world around him into his music. Sound interesting? Join us to find out more.

Protect Ryan

Somewhere between The Wurzels and Squarepusher sits Protect Ryan. Finding a home on DJ Die’s Gutterfunk imprint, the Ryan’s are a hydra of all things rave producing tracks that often defy belief and challenge the accepted norms of what dance music can be. Expect a fast paced synergy of chops, switches and double drops that will satisfy even the hardest chin stroking DnB heads.
