A
clubnight
held at The Island
on Saturday 9th November. The event starts at 22:00.
Chop Shop is back, this time bringing you record label Western Lore
The Bristol-based label brings the best in Jungle and beyond, trailblazing new sounds and pushing the genre further and further. Their releases span a whole spectrum of moods, tempos and rhythms curated by producer, DJ and visual artist, Alex Eveson aka Dead Man's Chest.
Response & Pliskin (Response- dnb)
This pair of Mancunian brothers have been absolutely smashing it in the past couple of years, launching their debut LP 'We are all disturbed' on Western Lore this year, as well as countless other releases. They travel between Jungle and Techno like nobodies business and will be releasing their first tracks on their own record label 'Northern Front Records' in the month leading up to this event! Expect dark and thumping basslines straight out the record box.
Dead Man's Chest
Head honcho of Western Lore and previously known as Eveson, Dead Man's Chest has been making his journey through the deeper spectrums of drum & bass / jungle since the mid 2000's. Now with his new alias he explores his original influence of early 90s rave tapes. A slew of chart dominating records lead to 'Best Breakthrough Producer', nominations at both DJ Mag's 'Best Of British' & the 'We Love Jungle' awards, and the launch of Western Lore. Expect a showcase of jungle revivalism at its best.
Eusebeia
After mind blowing releases on Repertoire & Literature Recordings, Eusebeia is slowly rising up the ranks of hottest newcomers to the jungle scene. Forthcoming releases on Western Lore will further prove the might of his heavy breakbeat style - this is the one to watch out for.
With a range of styles from the whole jungle/drum and bass spectrum, Sam Binary is one of Bristol's fiercest local selectors and producers. As a resident DJ for Western Lore and being the only person to have been trusted with an official Dead Man's Chest remix - you know he will bring the goods.
We'll be hosting this event beneath Bristol's streets, in the jail cells of the old police station. The Island is a venue that consistently fronts the best of the underground scene, and in a completely unique setting.
We'll be bringing the same levels of production as our last event so expect a night to remember. See you on the dancefloor.
Strobe lighting, smoke and lasers will be in use at this event.
