event
held at The Island
on Thursday 26th September. The event starts at 19:00.
RIOT ACT is a searingly new Open Mic experience unlike anything you've ever seen.
Showcasing the best in Comedy, Poetry, Music and all things in between from the South West and beyond, each month will feature a different nationally-established headliner and three fantastic featured local artists with your hilarious host, MC Wax Lyrical; and our city's extraordinary array of incredible open mic performers!
This month sees a headlining historic debut Bristol performance from Redeeming Features; Crown Prince of Punk Poetry, a mere month before he conquers the stage of a sold-out 5000 Capacity Brixton Academy supporting Punk heroes Soft Play.
Alongside him is Bristol favourite Lloyd Lewis, maverick comedy mastermind (and most dangerous Welshman on duolingo).
Celebrated Star of South West Spoken Word Jaidah, whose extraordinary, soulful verse odysseys traverse whole worlds of feeling and shine a light of joy on what it is to be human.
And London Lyrical Badboy Calum O’Keefe, enfant terrible of the Capital’s open mic scene, whose rough-cut rhymes are suffused with the grit and colour of the skinhead and soul scenes that he has made it his life’s work to document.
Have you got bars? Have you got jokes? Have you got tunes and stories that need to be told?
Then this event’s for you.
Whether you want to perform or not, join us in the old police cells at The Island, Bridewell street for a night to remember.
It’s time to laugh. It’s time to party. It’s time to celebrate the people of Bristol, their stories and their breath-taking creative genius.
Turn up at 7pm prompt to sign up for an Open mic slot.
