With designer & print maker Victoria Norcross and poet & Stone the Crones producer Beccy Golding.
During this three-hour workshop you will be guided through a series of creative writing exercises to produce a slogan which you will then hand-print onto an A2 poster using a specially designed typeface. The poster will then be yours to take home.
This workshop, open to all, takes a feminist approach to human-centered and participatory design, using a ‘hands on’ messy play methodology.
About the facilitators:
Victoria Norcross has custom-made over 300 pieces of unique letterpress blocks as the creator of OH! Let’s not Beat around the Bush: Menopause Letterpress Poster Making Workshops. Designed and developed as part of her MA project, the workshops aim to capture women's authentic voice, in raising awareness of Menopause Symptom Experience without censorship.
This distinct Branded Poster Campaign is inspired by an era of empowerment. The design styling hints back to women’s liberation and flower power movements, promoting freedom of speech and encouraging the female voice to be expressed and heard. The bold and unapologetic use of this typeface and colour with rhetorical text aims to persuade and influence a call to action.
Victoria is an award-winning designer/educator/maker and Associate Lecturer at Bath Spa University.
In 2015 Beccy Golding set up Facebook group QWIM Quixotic Women In Menopause to combat the isolation and lack of information facing those going through the menopause. It now has 1000+ members across the world and is a strong supportive community. In 2022 she started Stone the Crones – spoken word nights and poetry workshops supporting and celebrating the creative voices of older / aging / elder women. StC quickly developed a reputation as an inspiring, energetic, welcoming community enabling women to (re)find their voices as they age.
Beccy is a poet, writer, fool and radministrator. She has been a youth & community worker & worked for 12 years in independent publishing, before freelancing for a clown teacher and Forest School business amongst others.
