THIS MONTH:

FEATURING: ANJA GRAEFE AND HUGH DAVIES with support from HARDING MCCABE and hosted by (and featuring music from) award winning songwriters ELLIOT HALL AND SARAH LARKHAM

'...AN ECLECTIC DELIGHT OF THE KIND WE DON´T GET FROM ANYONE ELSE. ONE OF OUR MOST DISTINCTIVE ARTISTS.' -- Sarah Gosling, Radio BBC Introducing

ANJA GRAEFE is a singer and songwriter with a deep earthy voice that marries well with the blues-based songs she writes and performs. The music evokes a variety of moods, from bouncy to contemplative. Almost all the songs she performs are self-penned, with excellent melodies and often very emotive lyrics in English, Italian and German. The German born singer spent 11 years in Italy where she seriously turned to music, studying vocal improvisation with the renowned Tuscan Jazz vocalist Titta Nesti. Anja turned to songwriting in 2010 and has since produced three albums with another one in the making. Anja has been played and interviewed on German national radio Bayern 2, on BBC Introducing, on Novaradio (Italy) and a number of other radio stations across Europe.

HUGH DAVIES is a versatile trumpet and flugelhorn player whose styles range from the baroque to jazz and big band. Hugh has toured and performed with artists as varied as Johnny Mathis, James, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Alfie Boe, Belle & Sebastian, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Classical PLayers and The Orchestra of The Swan and toured China and Japan with Chicago The Musical. For many years Hugh was a regular performer in London’s West End and played on shows such as Les Miserables and My Fair Lady. He is Principal Trumpet with The Orchestra of The Swan with which he has made many recordings and live TV and radio performances (BBC TV, Radio & Classic FM). He has made many recordings for commercial TV and radio, on advertising jingles and TV soundtracks and theme tunes; recent work includes Location, Location, Location and BBC TV Proms theme. Hugh regularly records brass for Sky TV’s library music company SATV. TOGETHER they will transport you to a smoky club atmosphere, intimate tables with cocktails, a 1030s Berlin or French “caf´conc“ bar where people can unwind, sit back and enjoy a multicultural and multilingual musical journey through the places and cultures Anja has lived in, from mellow piano ballads to Weillean influenced tunes, Italian tales about the sea, songs that recall the blues and folk traditions of North America and finally her song “Portesham“ about a small village in Dorset. If your audience likes music that requires listening, they are in for a treat.

New Alt Folk duo HARDING MCCABE formed when singer songwriter Sue Harding met Mandolin player and composer Adrian McCabe and something beautiful happened. The music is intensely felt, poetic in intension and sensually melodic.

Adrian McCabe has been at the centre of various bands over the years, performing extensively around the South West and at the major UK Summer festivals. Adrian describes himself as ' A disciple of the art of modern mandolin playing'. His repertoire spans traditional Irish, Scottish, Blues, Americana and Bluegrass, but it is his flair for electronic wizardry that creates the extraordinary atmospheric soundscape that define the Harding McCabe sound.

Like Adrian McCabe, Sue Harding began her musical life through a passionate love of traditional Celtic and Americana folk which soon became a mission to find her own voice through song writing. Sue's 2016 solo album, 'Flight' with its retro Americana feel, was critically well received. 'These songs are delicate and powerful. There is something otherworldly about them', (Rob Bozas Head of A&R Long Tale Recordings). It is this lyricism, expressive electric guitar and gorgeous vocals that Sue brings to the truly unique and beautiful sound that is Harding McCabe.
