°✩ Seasoning greets the summer at the Inn with an off-kilter, tour de force of dubbed out rave with Jay Duncan, Ma Sha, Syz and YouYou leading us through the cycle of life on the dancefloor as Syz's new label Vitalizm spreads its wings in Bristol for the first time.
°✩ Ma Sha is a New York-based producer and DJ focussing on cosmic club workouts with wigged-out rhythmic structures who has been active in the scene since 2017 when she co-founded event series - now a NYC staple - Kindergarten. With a monthly slot on The Lot Radio and bagging “Best Breakthrough Label” at the 2022 DJ Mag North America Awards, presenting “twisty, rowdy and unpredictable club music rooted in techno from both sides of the Atlantic” [Resident Advisor].
°✩ Drawing from a deep well of dubwise hypnosis and ‘90s tribal house, Jay Duncan crafts slinky, sexed-up cuts and body-led sets that move like a ritual to sweat. Forged in the heat of queer parties, warehouse floors, and London squats, she’s carved out a sound shaped by ecstasy and community.
°✩ Syz thrills in the groove, an artist of UK club singularity who revels in twisted rhythms and sound-sculpted bass weight. A vast network of influences and intentions inform the Syz style. It’s a unique sound, respectful to house and techno past while moving modern with wry grime textures and sub-heavy dynamics; percussive grooves layered with sharp garage swing, found sounds and bass pressure.
°✩ This party lines up with the launch of Vitalizm, Syz’s imprint of ‘club rhythms for the soul’. Its output will explore the multi-faceted club sound of Syz and accomplices, paying homage to dubplate culture with limited lathe-cut runs and the prescient dance sounds of the now.
°✩ Spanning multiple BPMs and genres, YouYou remains hungry for intelligent variety: from the sounds of innovative synths to live instruments and as a classically trained vocalist, her natural musicality blends everything from ambient, funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, disco and world, to the darker gritty realms of underground rave-infused house, bass, IDM, electro, acid, breaks and techno, with plenty that falls between the cracks.
