The Everyday Consent Lab led by Ila Albanese

The Everyday Consent Lab led by Ila Albanese at The Mazi Project

An event on Sunday 20th September. The event starts at 15:30.

In this workshop, led by Ila Albanese, we’ll use everyday situations like sharing photos, asking for advice, borrowing things, making plans and emotional capacity to explore all the places consent shows up outside of sexy times. While these are essential skills to have, learning to communicate more clearly about these things will also make it easier for us to communicate in the bedroom!

Most of the exercises will use modular conversation cards which provide prompts and constraints, but not scripts, for us to practice different ways of saying how we (fictionally) feel about some fictional scenarios! Participants will have to find words that actually sound like them, swapping roles, cards and partners as we go.

The workshop is a chance to experiment with language, keep what works and rewrite what doesn’t feel natural - you will leave with some cards of useful phrases to take home with you. All the exercises are fictional and non-contact.

Please note that this workshop is taking place in the space of Patterned Frog's "Can we talk about consent" art exhibition - please only attend if you are in a good headspace to do so. There is a bar on site with snacks, soft drinks, tea and alcohol.
