Sarahsson at The Mount Without
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Following her majestic Volksbühne show with Bendike Giske and a Berghain outing for Creamcake’s 3hd last year, Sarahsson’s monumental homecoming show is not to be missed. Expect splintered club electronics, gregorian chants, celestial fractals and neoclassical incantations converging into divine grotesquerie, sublime grandeur and baroque drama. Huge FFO: Eartheater, Lyra Pramuk, Evita Manji, LEYA."

BNM 2024 opens with a very special show by Sarahsson at the spectacular Mount Without church, involving collaborators including dancers from Impermanence.

Sarahsson
Bristol based composer, producer, performance artist and DJ, Sarahsson has fashioned a distinctly personal sound world and visual aesthetic through which to explore queerness, identity, history, and belonging. Equal parts beautiful and grotesque, her theatrical live performances fuse neoclassical composition with extreme sound design, destabilising rhythms, and earth-shattering percussion.

Impermanence
Co-Directed by Roseanna Anderson & Joshua Ben-Tovim, Impermanence was set up in 2011 with Alessandro Marzotto-Levy and other graduates from the Rambert School. Described as ‘subversively beautiful’ by The Guardian, the award-winning company is building a regular programme of dance at The Mount Without, where they are resident, having played a central role in the restoration of the building.

…………

Taking place from Thursday 25 - Sunday 28 April 2024, Bristol New Music is a city-wide festival of contemporary music and sound.
