Folktronica and roots band Hangover Square headline this great evening of music, fund raising for Oxfam. Supported by solo singer songwriter Sad Cypress, these talented artists each bring their unique styles to what will undoubtedly be an atmospheric night in the wonderful setting of The Mount Without. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost a minimum of £15 each but if you have the means you can pay more to support Oxfam.
Hangover Square elegantly combine influences as varied as folk, blues, classical, world music and electronica. Expect, synths, slide guitar, layered voices, orchestral samples and electronically produced beats. In a word…folktronica.
They’ll be playing brand new songs from their upcoming 2nd album ‘Rewire’ plus favourites from both their debut album ‘Painting with an open heart’ and last years acoustic EP ‘Horizons’. Give yourself over Hangover Square’s romantic, elegant dreamscape for an evening like no other.

Sad Cypress is the stage name of Sophie Cartmell, a musician currently based in Cardiff. She writes songs that are memorable and melodic, with varied instrumentation and mystical lyrical themes. She released her album Magic Mountain on Bandcamp in 2023. She is now playing new material live ahead of recording her second album, expected out in late 2024.
