Spindle Ensemble at Kelston Barn at The Old Barn, Kelston Roundhill

Contemporary classical quartet Spindle Ensemble performs at The Old Barn on Kelston Roundhill on Saturday, 15th July, with doors opening at 6.30 pm.

The Old Barn is a magical venue at a stunning location with views across Bristol, Bath and North Somerset. Kelston records host special intimate gigs there, the Spindle Ensemble performance will be recorded for release as Kelston have also recently done with other Bristol bands ' Three Cane Whale' and 'Modulus 3'.

Spindle Ensemble play original, modern semi-classical compositions, combining many influences such as Moondog, Eric Satie and Somei Satoh. They combine additional elements of folk, jazz and improvisation to create music of a cinematic nature and aural beauty. The group are the newest project from Bristol based music collective 'Bloom', featuring Harriet Riley on marimba and vibraphone, Caelia Lunniss on violin, Jo Silverston on cello and composer Daniel Inzani on piano, celtic harp and accordion.

Fiona Talkington, one of the three graces of BBC Radio 3’s flagship programme Late Junction, observed: “Beautiful sounds, definitely a band to watch.”

While Stage Talk Magazine says: “(The musicians) crafted beautifully layered landscapes of sound with enormous empathy for each other’s playing.”

There will be a cash bar and food will be available.
