CYTE RECS Bristol - we back!
After three years of landmark parties from 2014-2017 that saw us bring everyone from Dark0 to AJ Tracey to the city alongside a slew of CYTE label regulars, we’re finally back in Bristol to reassemble and loosely celebrate our 8th birthday.
Quick line-up rundown:
ALYA L
Psychotherapy Sessions & No Future Resident, facilitator at Intervention DJ workshops and Host of All Work no Play on 1020 Radio. Join ALYA L for an exploration into the obscurities of club music ranging from downtempo alien jams all the way to high octane drum workouts.
Drone
Released his debut record proper (‘Lightspeed’) on CYTE in 2018 and now boasts releases on Sector 7 and V.I.V.E.K’s SYSTEM imprint, where he continues to develop. Now positioned to be one of 2020’s biggest names in dubstep.
Forever
Released 4-track EP ‘Hymn’ on CYTE in 2016, as well as turning in that remix of Last Japan’s ‘Harca’ the year before. He’s recently moved to Bristol but remains a fundamental part of Leicester’s Grade 10 crew with a slew of incredible records to his name.
Jurango
An accomplished selector and former CYTE resident in Bristol, Jurango is a long-time member of Bristol’s PTS Crew alongside Alya L, Roy Bar and YeYe.
Last Japan
Three records deep on CYTE, including 2016’s ‘Ascend’ with AJ Tracey’, and a veteran of our early Bristol parties. He’s also co-head of Circadian Rhythms who were ranked one of Mixmag’s Top 20 Labels of 2018, boasting an iconic NTS Live show and a series of boundary-pushing releases spanning music, art and design.
OH91
Two records deep on CYTE and a grime producer with an exhaustive list of credits to his name and further releases on White Peach and Trapped Audio. A legend in Bristol, he’s also a veteran of our early parties in the city.
SHELL
Shell is the new project of Chemist and Tom E. Vercetti, two producers (formerly of Silk Road Assassins) who individually helped shape the CYTE RECS sound that exists today via their own debut records; Chemist’s ‘Defiance’ (2014) and Tom E. Vercetti’s ‘Future Perfect’.
Utah?
One of CYTE’s newest recruits, Utah? released his ‘Bronze’ EP with the label last year and is already working on a follow up. Based in Sheffield, he has played extensively with Manchester’s Chow Down crew and also released two excellent early records with Kastle’s Symbols imprint.
