BARRY JITTER & THE SPECIAL BREW - "Baby Blue Kodak" Release Party

BARRY JITTER & THE SPECIAL BREW - "Baby Blue Kodak" Release Party at The Old England Pub

A gig held at The Old England Pub on Friday 27th November. The event starts at 19:15.

The longest awaited debut single in Gorpcore jangle country pop is here! Barry wrote the lyrics to "Baby Blue Kodak" in Slapton, South Devon. The Special Brew wrote the music together in an unassuming Hotwells coffee joint - which when ADHD meds were brought in, became a hotbed of garage-punk creativity.
Barry Jitter and his Special Brew will headline the Old England (the biggest church in town) with support from his best friends and favourite bands to promote this momentous occasion! Miss this and get BJFOMO!!!

Barry Jitter & the Special Brew
Barry Jitter is the self-described “antifolk heir to the Bedminster fortune.” Penman to a set of songs only able to be categorised three ways: LOVE, INTOXICANTS, or HANGING FROM A ROPE. And it only gets better when he has his Special Brew, the rotating cast of “musicians” act as the shambolic actualisation incarnate of his strange and unique world. Percussionista Sleazy and bassist Oli O-Ring transform the usually deregulated off-kilter folk into a hearty mixture of country, punk and jangle pop. The looseness is the unique selling point: “Barry Jitter, always different, always the same.”
FFO: Beck, Will Oldham, Daniel Johnston.

Sapir Whorfs
Bass-driven post-punk catchy dissonant strangeness!! Imagine a person yelling in esoteric mirage over a wailing guitar while the drums get hit really hard.
FFO: The Fall, Country Teasers, Snooper!

HOOF
In memoriam:
HOOF are just some guys who try to make music. There's four or five or occasionally twelve of the slot badgers onstage at any given time. If you go down to the Mardyke and meet them you can ask if they are geniuses, they'll say "maybe not now, but give it four or five months and we might finally crack it." Their songs include famous notes like A, D, G and sometimes Q as well. Regretfully, this gig is held in tribute to their fallen bassists who mysteriously expired in different branches of the countryside, (e.g: Matt evaporated at Chessel Beach, and Nicky Burger rolled his beach buggy in the Cairngorms) there were others too, but enough about them - this new guy can play it upside-down. These new songs invoke images of triangles and pentagons. I asked them if they'd ever write a truly circular song and they told me to "get fucked." At the end of the day, all I can is liken them to lichen growing on the doormat at the back entrance of the coalface of rock n' roll.
A message for HOOF: "come home, we love you, we miss you. It's not cool to be weird."

- Benjamin Ladner

Jayden Vandersluys
Jayden Vandersluys sings circular songs in favour of artists like John Jacob Niles and Natasha Bedingfield as a reminder that you aren't alone on your nightshift. He plays the six-string guitar-a-phone and wears M&S boxers. Trust me, I've seen them.

Bruno Bof
Bruno used to be a teenage prodigy, now he’s just a run of the mill, grownup genius. In a set surprisingly devoid of the OMP, he will perform on his own two feet, accompanied solely by a GUITAR. His songs are reminiscent of 60’s/70’s garage rock, while incorporating elements of rockabilly and hardcore punk. Despite this, his lyrical choices turn the aforementioned genres on their heads and simultaneously enrapture audiences wherever he goes – whether that be Gloucester Road or Camden Town. Make it down early as to not miss Bedminster’s punk-rock darling in aktion!
