Lamp Lighters
Lamp Lighters use evocative and emotive lyrics and beats to provide a light in the darkness. The formidable electronica sound is characterized by heavy beats, deep bass, hard synths, engaging keys and cinematic pads, with soulful reflective vocals driving it forward. Lamp Lighters bring together the ambient and soulful elements of electronic music with energetic rhythms to produce a unique, modern and progressive sound.
The debut single Four Walls is a metaphor for feeling hemmed in by the life constraints and the need to find space and feel a sense of freedom. Musically the song has a dark electronic atmosphere, giving the context of feeling trapped by circumstances, while the high synths contrast beautifully to offer glimmers of much needed hope.
Chester Giles, a vocalist with the most meandering of tones. Chester is a frequent collaborator with fellow Young Echo musicians, providing spoken word reflections of life to compliment experimental electronica.
He has recently hooked up with Vessel under the Asda to collaboration with Jabu for the ‘Slow Hours’.
Plymouth-based electronic producer Ross Sinclair – stage name Soss – mixes up his hip hop and reggae beats with samples from movie soundtracks adorned with soul and jazz twists.
Soss produces mainly with Logic Pro, and for live sets, he uses a Machine Controller, VSTs and synths, setting up a solid baseline for his lyrics.
Soss released his first album YHYH (2015) on Bandcamp, featuring a track with a beat sampled from Knxwledge as a nod to his hip hop roots.
