THE OLD ENGLAND Bristol, BS6 5PT 5pm Sunday 1st March £4 adv, £5 on the door HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CAT? are not a real band, they are a thinly veiled excuse to sell cat themed merchandise. They also make really good music. Like all your favourite indie bands but more sexy and fun. McDermott & North is the indie-folk duo of Patrick McDermott and Rhys North. Formed in Brisbane in 2015, they grew from busking into a harmony-driven live act known for raw, powerful songwriting. Blending the warmth of Simon & Garfunkel with the melodies of The Beatles and the edge of The Kinks, their sound feels both nostalgic and urgent. After a collaboration with Ben Lee, they moved to the UK in 2023, selling out shows, playing major festivals, and quickly becoming a standout name in London’s indie scene by 2025. Jed Martin: folk bangers, ballads & originals. Pretty finger-picked guitar, whistling harmonica, cutting lyrics. Jed Martin (@PoundShopPoet) is a songwriter, poet, philosopher and folksinger who cut his teeth in the London folk clubs, and earned his stripes playing in the pubs and squares of Bristol and Bath. “If you love folk music you’re gonna love this guy!” – Ollie Lewis (Bath Sound)
