HOUSE OF LIGHT
Euro/Oz group House of Light draw on new wave, 80s pop, shoegaze, and post-punk to create a wall of catchy songs with a swirling, psychedelic sound. They have been booked with acts such as Lydia Lunch, Pete Doherty, and toured through Europe, USA and Australia, and been interviewed by Andy Rourke of the Smiths. They release their 3rd album in some months. (Pale Music (EU) Int/Kasumuen REcords (AU))
Local group, performing as a dark-ambient trio. Multi-layered heavy / ethereal / neoclassical / gothic / melodic sound, often saturated in drones and field-recording based soundscapes. Llive sets are approached as a form of aural ritual, constructed to form sonic-arcs which integrate and reinterpret songs reaching back to the 14th century, alongside original semi-improvised extended pieces.
Also local, New Haunts contrast the jarring with the serene - combining elements of post-punk, old-school industrial, goth and synthpop with soft ambient synths, arresting yet melodic vocals, discordance and mechanical beats.
