New Orleans is Billie Holiday's only feature film appearance, she was 31 years old and at her commercial peak. The film is set in 1917 and also stars Louis Armstrong and Woody Herman. It features extensive playing of New Orleans-style jazz and songs, which feature Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong and his band performing together.

The film will be introduced by Dave Merrick and Natalie Davis with live music and spoken word.
