A event on Saturday 8th June. The event starts at 19:00.

"North Circular" is a documentary musical that journeys along Dublin's North Circular Road, from the historic Phoenix Park to the bustling Dublin Port. This evocative film, shot in black and white with a 4:3 Academy ratio, delves into the rich tapestry of the road's history, music, and iconic streetscapes, linking some of Ireland's most cherished and notorious locations.

The documentary weaves narratives from Dublin's past and present, touching on themes such as colonialism, mental health, and women's liberation. It also tackles contemporary issues, notably the fight to preserve the legendary Cobblestone Pub, a cornerstone of Dublin’s folk music revival, from the threat of property developers.

The film will be preceded by a talk from John O'Connor, Director of Museum of Totterdown (MoT). This community heritage initiative, based around Totterdown and St. Philips, focuses on engaging communities with local history and heritage. The Road Project aims to bring history out of filing cabinets, attics, and libraries, making it accessible and relevant to everyone.

John O'Connor's talk will reflect the importance of urban preservation by drawing a parallel to Bristol's history, in particular the beginning of the construction of the Outer Circuit Ring Road. The plans for the Outer Circuit Ring Road saw local communities divided with devastating consequences. All in the name of progressive infrastructure that proved unviable in the very end.

This event will also feature Irish music before and after the screening.
