Sailing ship Gallant is in town! Come celebrate the ship and its cargo with live music, storytelling, wine and rum tastings, and stalls.
entry is free
New Dawn Traders and PORT O'BRISTOL welcome Gallant Ship to Bristol with a belly full of store-cupboard essentials, exotic delicacies and natural wines, brought from across the seas practically emission-free!
Creating a sustainable economy around sailing cargo ships is our biggest challenge. The ships we work with are not sailing to compete with Maersk. Our ships, like the olive trees of our farmers, demand patience, loyalty and love. They ask us to be human and not ‘consumer’.
New Dawn Traders are developing a Voyage Cooperative model bringing together farmers, sailors, port allies and foodies who are all passionate about doing it right. There is no need to compromise on the good vibes, because from soil to ship to serving, this is not 'business as usual'.
PORT O'BRISTOL by Xisto Wines Ltd import artisanal wines made by people that are passionate about their work from vineyard to bottle, which is reflected in the excellent taste. You will be able to meet two of Portugal's award winning organic wine makers. Joao Meneres of Quinta do Romeo, and Carlos Ruivo of Lagar de Darei.
!! BECOME A SAIL CARGO PIONEER !!
By purchasing in advance the cost of both the cargo and the voyage is shared amongst many and the financial risk of a voyage is removed. By collecting from the ship or local pick-up point, the onward distribution and storage needs are also shared and reduced. By buying larger amounts to last you a season or to share with family and friends, we reduce packaging waste and take one more item off your weekly supermarket lists.
In this way, we can start small as individuals or groups, whilst all together we are filling the ship’s hold and creating voyage routes where every port arrival is like a homecoming. As sail cargo-pioneers, your support is launching a system of trade that is truly able to bring global consumption back to a human scale.

... further details to be announced soon.
But first, we need to get our orders in with the farmers over the next few days. You can still order closer to the time of arrival but quantities will be limited!
If you cannot make our collection event, your goods will be held at a local pick up point for you to collect at your leisure in the week or two following.
