After two sell-out successes, Mafia Weekend CIC is delighted to present its next community gathering, celebrating Imbolc (the start of spring) and raising funds for a two-day Nature Connection adventure on Dartmoor in Spring 2025. All profits beyond the cost of hiring The Pickle Factory will support young adults in the BS5 area of Bristol on this enriching journey.

Event Details

Date: Saturday 1st February
Time: Doors open at 1:30 PM for the event to Start at 2 pm & conclude around 5:30 PM
Venue: The Pickle Factory, Easton

Please arrive on time for the 2 pm start, as the workshops will commence promptly. We encourage everyone to start and finish the event together to foster a connection within the group.

Join us to celebrate the lengthening days with creative workshops, storytelling, and a communal meal. Whether you’re feeling down during this time of year or simply wish to enjoy some friendly company, we would be delighted to welcome you.

Schedule

1:30 PM – Doors Open: Help yourself to a Tea or coffee and chill
2:00 PM – Workshops:

Weaving Workshop (2:00 – 3:30 PM) Led by Anna Hopkins (Wandering Woven), a weaver with nine years of experience in sustainable textile design. Learn a traditional craft, create your own responsibly sourced piece, and take it home.

Creative Writing Workshop (2:00 – 3:30 PM)Join emerging writer and event organiser James Broadley to shape a group piece titled “Stories of the Land.” No experience is necessary—bring an open mind. The final work will be incorporated into a larger storytelling project.

4:00 PM – Storytelling Session: Renowned storyteller Mica Sinclair will share captivating tales of new beginnings. Sit back, relax, and allow her storytelling to transport you.

4:45 PM – Hot Dinner: Enjoy a plant-based meal with vegan and gluten-free options, freshly prepared to warm and nourish.

5:15 PM—C losing Story & Wrap-Up: End the day on a high note with a final tale and connect socially before heading home.

Why Imbolc?
Imbolc sits between the winter solstice and spring equinox, welcoming longer days and the first signs of spring. It’s the perfect time to celebrate creativity, community spirit, and new beginnings.
