A clubnight on Saturday 11th April. The event starts at 18:00.
Welcome to Nested Souls.
We know there’s a lot of info below but please do read it, It's very important!
This is a night designed to make everyone feel safe, warm and cozy. We want you to be comfortable throwing as many, or as few limbs around as you like.
Here's a brief summary of everything for the short attention span crew (you should still read everything if you can bare it):
This is a wholesome party with soulful tunes in one room, heavy tunes in the other, big speakers in both and plenty of little surprises. It's also a sober-ish night (read below for deets) with a cozy space upstairs where there'll be arts, crafts, board games, free hot drinks and a live interview hosted by Nobody Is Watching.
Proper description:
Whilst this is mainly a night built on wholesomeness, that’s not to say it won’t be a proper party. The main room (The Understory) powered by Dharma Hifi (big, loud and beautiful) will see the likes of Steve Rice (Downbeat Melody Soundsystem), Mother's Temple, Sherbersky and Dub Gardener delivering expertly curated roots, soul, dub, rocksteady and funk in a warmly lit space with plenty of wiggle room.
If that's too wholesome for you, don't worry. Next door (The Rookery), powered by Loose Sounds (also big, loud and beautiful, bring earplugs!), will satiate you. JPEG, Roti, Beenie, Hevyhigrade and Steppa Man Jon will keep you entertained amongst smoke and lasers to jungle, dubstep (not shit dubstep), electro booty bangers, dancehall and steppas.
But what’s new? Bristols already oversaturated with awesome (and shit) nights out you say!
True.
However, this event will feel different (hopefully). It's designed in such a way that you may end up being more sober than perhaps you usually are.
There will be a dedicated cozy chill out space upstairs (The Nest) with blankets, arts and crafts, badge making, board games (w/ @above.board.bristol), textile workshops and free tea, coffee and hot chocolate! This space will hopefully give all that need it a chance to recuperate, stim and generally attend their needs away from the noisy chaos.
Very excitingly, we've teamed up with Nobody Is Watching to bring you a live interview with a couple of our awesome DJs to open the night. This will start at 6pm so get down early to catch it.
Outside will be storytelling and poetry around the fire hosted by Sonny the Sunshine Bard plus some really yummy and affordable vegan food from Indian Summer (@indiansummer.cafe).
Also!!!!
IMPORTANT: There will NOT be a bar serving alcohol (or non-alcoholic stuff), however you are very welcome to bring your own booze. We want you to feel comfortable consuming whatever you want at this event but whilst keeping in mind that you might have just as much fun after a cuppa than after a line.
We don’t want anyone to feel self conscious about being in this space. This isn’t some pretentious sober moral high ground malarkey but simply a night where people can party in a slightly different way - if they want to (emphasis on this bit).
This event starts and ends early. Come down, have dinner, have a dance, make some friends, get creative, have a decent nights sleep and feel fresh the day after.
Nested Souls will run things a bit differently where everyone involved gets a proportion of takings, rather than paying everyone a flat fee and taking the rest as profit. We hope this will create sustainable roots for a non-hierarchical community to grow. This event won’t be making money. All tickets are £10, no tiers, no financial advantage if you come across the event sooner, no sneaky cheap links for friends, everyone gets the same opportunity to come. We think this is fair. All finances will be publicly accessible for all to scrutinise. Please please give us feedback if you think we could do anything differently. We want your advice and ideas! Message us on insta @nestedsouls. This is an experiment, help us get it right.
Lots of love,
Nested Souls x
