Grab this free chance to master the ancient Dhol drum the basis of Bhangra. Learn to play with Dilbagh Singh, lead drummer of the Dilkush Band and perform with him at St Georges' Global Garden Party!
The Dhol Project is for anyone over 16 of whatever level of experience. If you've an interest in drumming or Asian music, then it's a fantastic chance to train with Bristol's foremost Dhol Drumming group, the Dilkush Band. The Project means that Dilbagh Singh can provide free weekly lessons from April to June and it means a chance for you to perform at the amazing Migrations Global Garden Party at St George's Bristol on 26th June 2011.
The Dhol drum is over 600 years old, and is one of the most important instruments of the Indian subcontinent. Its powerful rhythms have underpinned war, farming, ritual and celebration. The Dhol Project is a community arts initiative set up by St. Georges Bristol, the concert hall off Park Street, in partnership with the Pierian Centre in St Pauls. Dilbagh Singh's classes will take place at the Pierian Centre on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons in April, May and June. To enrol or to find out more, please contact 0117 924 4512 or info@http://www.pieriancentre.com
