Joe Mansfield & the Temperance Two are bringing traditional string band music from the mountains of America into the city of Bristol and beyond. Expect old time fiddling, driving guitar and frailing banjo to get you up and keep you moving.
The trio were brought together in late 2021 through Bristol’s rich scene of trad acoustic sessions and a shared passion for Appalachian folk music. Fiddler and vocalist Joe Mansfield was joined by guitarist Kai Carter (Kai & Hollis) and Yannick Allerton (Barbican) a fresh ‘lockdown’ adopter of clawhammer banjo. Finding and sharing these swift, chordal, hypnotic rhythms has moved the band from hosting sessions in punk pubs, to street gigs outside student bars and now on to wider folk audiences.
Saturday 29th November marks the release of their debut album First Time at a War.
