A event on Saturday 28th March. The event starts at 15:30.
What did a pub actually feel like 175 years ago?
On Saturday 28th March, The Robin Hood rewinds to its very first night in 1848.
For one afternoon and evening the pub becomes a fully living 19th-century tavern. Actors roam the room, conversations spark unexpectedly, and stories unfold around you. There’s no stage, no fixed performance and no spectators — everyone inside is part of the atmosphere.
Expect railroad deals being negotiated over tankards, secret gambling tables in dark corners, sailors preparing for voyages, engineers debating the future of industry and workers loudly arguing about rights and revolution. Rumours are already circulating that Isambard Kingdom Brunel might appear.
The pub will be transformed with straw-covered floors, tankards of ale and mead, and penny coin payments for drinks. The kitchen will serve hearty tavern food fit for travellers, labourers and conspirators alike.
Immersive theatre from Blame of Thrones
Live folk music from Standing Stones
