Ellen Southern: Site Singing
Tommy Creep
Trauerarbeit (debut performance)
The Stag and Hounds was originally built in 1483 and after some time as a private house, it became known for hosting a Pie-Poudre Court- a temporary court set up for dealing swift justice to travelling thieves and debtors during markets and fairs ("pieds poudrés" roughly translates as the 'dusty feet' of a non-resident). Originally taking place in Norman times under an ancient oak tree outside, the ceremonial court eventually moved to the upstairs room, which some say is haunted...
ORGANCHRIST
Live noise duo Organchrist have been making nightmarish industrial-doom experiments in the Bristol and UK underground since 2013. Using a concoction of analogue synths, drum machines, tape loops and effect pedals, they craft walls of ritualistic drone. They have a handful of cassette releases via their own Boundary Element label as well as the bizarre cult French label Zamzamrec.

ELLEN SOUTHERN - Site Singing
Dead Space Chamber Music’s Ellen uses voice as both a direct sound-based method of interacting with site, and as a compositional tool. Her ongoing Site Singing work is based on on the idiosyncrasies which arise in this relational process. As well as ongoing field trips to sites including ancient Neolithic long barrows, medieval ruins and an abandoned Victorian stone bridge, the project is constantly expanding towards exhibitions, collaborations, and semi-improvised solo performances which combine live, mediated and pre-recorded elements.
