Polymath
Brighton's newest Instrumental Math band; Polymath are all glitchy, off-kilter guitars and shifting time signatures.
Polymath make densely layered, off kilter instrumental Math-Rock that leans on the heavier elements of the genre reminiscent of early Battles, The Mars Volta, and ASIWYFA. Polymath seek out new levels of complexity in their music whilst never straying too far from a neatly arranged composition.
Following their success in opening the Bixler Stage at last years' ArcTanGent Festival, Polymath have jumped straight into the studio. Having released two singles in 2013, along with a secret download for ArcTanGent ticket holders, the band have started 2014 with the first in a run of mini-releases that will be available for download or on limited edition CD format.
Masterfully combining virtuosic instrumentalism with unabashed musical experimentation, Alright the Captain have all but effortlessly established themselves as a sonic force to be reckoned with, thanks to their increasingly inimitable, uniquely imaginative brand of math-rock and having shared stages with post-rock luminaries including Mono, toe, 65daysofstatic, Pelican, Tera Melos, ASIWYFA, Maybeshewill, Adebisi Shank, This Will Destroy You, ZU, Holy Fuck and many more.
With the highly-anticipated follow-up to their critically devoured debut, SNIB, set for release later this year, the band's jazz-inflected craft is brilliantly propelled by an unrestrained restless energy and bold sense of boundlessness that recognises zero confines. Melding intricate fretboard tangents with summoning rhythms, noise rock throwdowns with delicate, effects-laden passages and painstaking instrumental majesty with an intent-drenched zeal, the band's music evokes everyone from Don Caballero, Giraffes? Giraffes! and Slint to Tera Melos, June of 44 and toe. Listen.

Utopia War
United by a mutual desire for brutal riffs and pummeling drums plus a collection of fuzz and distortion pedals. Sludgy doom at its rawest.
"Wicket flow. They'll bear you along in their eddies of sound, sweep you to vistas new, if you're prepared to jump in. " - Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
"Their finely crafted melodies, basslines and intricate beats often begin gently, caressing your eardrums then building in intensity & complexity to a crashing climax only to return you safely from whence you came. " - Altview Music
