I am very happy to announce the next dates of my new short two-class Afro-Cuban course: THE TWO WATERS.
These two classes are inspired by Yemaya, mother of the seas, and Oshun, mother of fresh waters.
Through this course, we will explore the technique, movement, and essence of Afro-Cuban dance and its fundamental importance for Cuban and Latin social dance styles.
✨ What will we work on?
Each class will focus on one Orisha: One class dedicated to Yemaya One class dedicated to Oshun
In each class we will:
• Learn fundamental steps from Yemaya and Oshun dances
• Understand the essence and energy of each movement
• Break down body movements and isolations to improve body awareness and technique
In the second part of each class, we will work with traditional Cuban social genres such as Son Cubano, Chachachá, and others, mixing Afro-Cuban dance with social dance.
This will help dancers understand how to apply Afro-Cuban movement to social dancing and why Afro-Cuban body technique is essential for Cuban and Latin dances.
This course is ideal for dancers who want to:
✔ Improve body movement
✔ Develop stronger Afro-Cuban technique
✔ Dance with more authenticity, flow, and musicality
