"LAND REALLY IS THE BEST ART" Andy Warhol

Artspace Lifespace is delighted to welcome the Stokes Croft Land Trust (SCLT) and the People's Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) to our first artist Residency exhibition at the Vestibules of 2022. The exhibition will explore the vibrant, independent culture that Stokes Croft has become famous for. Bristol, Bath and the wider West of England Area has many examples of bringing community assets into community ownership, from pubs and music venues to Bristol Ferries, a community bookshop and Pier to cinemas, bike workshops, wood recycling and renewable energy installations.

This exhibition will showcase and celebrate community and how working together creates beauty, value and life in an area despite barriers, challenges and gentrification and explore community ownership and Community Land Trusts and their role in securing economic equality for local people since the civil rights movement.

You can find out more about how & why Stokes Croft Land Trust and its community share offer (now LIVE www.fundsurfer.com/sclt) will finance the purchase of 17 – 25 Jamaica Street & 14 Hillgrove Street – currently known as PRSC HQ into community ownership and about the great local outreach work of People’s Republic of Stokes Croft CIC (PRSC)
