Tiff Stevenson: Bombshell at The Wardrobe Theatre
See event details

A event held at The Wardrobe Theatre on Friday 6th April. The event starts at 19:30pm.

Bombshell premiered at the Edinburgh Festival’s Gilded Balloon last August and is her most political show yet. The tour starts on 1st March at the Cambridge Junction and culminates in a 6 night run at London’s Soho Theatre from 21st – 26th May.

Some say she oscillates wildly between Sylvia Plath & Beyonce, “like Belva Lockwood fused with your drunken Aunt.” (Edinburgh 49+3) Tiff says she’s very very funny and a right old smarty-pants. She also says she’s very, very, very modest.

So the world is on fire, a misogynist egomaniac is in the White House dropping his own bombs, unfortunately not metaphorical. Tiff came on her period the day the Trump presidency was announced, she can’t help thinking the two are linked… a big kick in the ovaries. Feminists are marching, Meninists are complaining, and somehow Piers Morgan still has a career.

Bombshell has turned out to be right on the zeitgeist with material around consent, how to complement women, and how Tiff might actually be synchronising with the apocalypse. She also tackles the increasing threat to reproductive rights, Creationists, and how Theresa May has ruined leopard print forever. In Bombshell Tiff ponders the knots the Left have tied themselves in and whether feeling politically adrift means she might have found herself bang in the centre, which according to Ayn Rand, is the evilest of all positions.

With the doomsday clock approaching midnight it’s time to embrace the blitz spirit and get ready for some BOMBSHELLS!!

It’s been an amazing 18 months for Tiff. She returned for the 3rd series of the BAFTA winning People Just Do Nothing in her regular role as Tanya. Tiff also appeared as a series regular on the brand new E4/Hulu sitcom Game Face from Roisin Conaty. As well as landing a part on the new BBC comedy White Gold from Damon Beesley (Inbetweeners). She made two appearances on Mock the Week and made her debut on 8 out of 10 Cats. In Sept 2017 Tiff was selected by Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) to take part in the inaugural Live From Virgin comedy festival. Her critically acclaimed 2014 show Optimist was selected by Virgin Atlantic to be screened in-flight. In 2017 Tiff also appeared for the first time on The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) . She recorded sets for Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network, and Just For Laughs: All Access, earning her a development deal with Warner Brothers 150 Project. Tiff also became a co-host on the Radiotopia hit show The Bugle

TV/Radio credits include:

UK correspondent for The Weekly (ABC), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), Show Me the Funny (ITV), John Bishop’s Only Joking (Sky 1), The Comedy Club (Radio 4 Extra), 7 Day Saturday (BBC 5 Live) As Yet Untitled (Dave) Breaking The News (BBC Scotland).

Acting credits include:

The Office (BBC), Talk Radio (Ed Fringe), Chambers (BBC), Hand It Back (Film) , Footballers Wives TV (ITV2), Love Matters (Sky 1), The Last Minutes (BBC Radio 4 Drama).

In January last year her satirical character Bridget Trump went viral and she appeared in Entertainment Magazine, People Magazine, Comedy Central and Mashable (for which she is now a regular contributor). She has also been interviewed by Total Politics Magazine and written for a plethora of broadsheet papers across the globe. She is currently considering book offers for Bridget Trump.

This March Tiff’s pro-choice piece for The Guardian’s “A moment that changed me” received an overwhelming response online and received coverage in the Ireland, US & Australian media. For International Women’s Day she hosted a viral video for BBC online, which was the most viewed item on their landing page.

2016 was an absolute belter too with Tiff cementing her reputation as a force to be reckoned with in stand up. With appearances at Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, Kilkenny, How The Light Gets In Festival and Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.. At JFL Festival she performed at the Brit-ish showcase and opened for Kathleen Madigan along with Lewis Black. She was shortlisted (No 6) for Dave’s Funniest Joke of The Fringe. Her 2015 Edinburgh Fringe show Mad Man received a slew of 4 and 5 star reviews, making it officially one of the top 25 best reviewed shows that year. Mad Man went on to tour nationally and was followed up with the, even more political, critically acclaimed Seven in 2016.

THE CRITICS ON ‘BOMBSHELL’

“…An important and hilarious mixture of self deprecation and honest confession, all wrapped up in down-to-earth feminism…She’s a fearless performer, This is accessible, elevating, adult comedy, at times silly, at others, sober, indeed, the one informs the other. This is superb…” NEW EUROPEAN *****

“…Bombshell is exactly what the title implies: an explosion of outrage; a hand-grenade of a monologue; one everyone should see and talk about for days and weeks and months to every person they know. It is that important. The show is wild and yet it is funny. It shakes up our preconceived notions about the world, society and ourselves and still it makes us laugh. I cannot think of a more important way to spend an hour than to listen to Tiff Stevenson‘s take on what we call civilization. This show is a profound and volatile analysis of what is going wrong in our world today. It is also a very wise and funny piece of political and social comedy.
